http://www.no-ip.com
Xampp has been running on this server since 2009 using standard
Virgin media broadband.
Hosting with a commercial site like http://dream-hosting.co.uk
is fine and very reliable.
Costs have doubled during 2011. The yearly cost is now 20 pounds for one Gb of data.
This project is using free software unlimited web space.
Unlimited my sql databases. No annoying pop up adverts.
Even this computer was salvaged from a rubbish skip.
The only negligible cost is the electricity for this server.
The great advantage no need to ftp to a remote web host.
This computer is always available for surfing the web.
Developing your own sites on your own web server is an excellent way
of learning all aspects of web hosting.
